Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit
Piano Summer School

Matthias Kirschnereit is one of the leading German pianists of his generation. He studied with Renate Kretschmer-Fischer at the Detmold Music University and received decisive artistic impressions from Claudio Arrau, Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Oleg Maisenberg and Murray Perahia.

Successes at international competitions like the German Competition in Bonn and the Geza Anda Competition in Zurich formed the foundation for the beginning of an international concert career and led to engagements with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony, the Resident Orchestra in the Hague and many other leading orchestras in the major concert centers throughout the world. In addition, 20 CDs document Kirschnereit’s activities.

Since 1997, Matthias Kirschnereit has been Professor at the Rostock University for Music and Theater. In the meantime, many of his students have been prize-winners in international competitions.

He has taught at the Summer Academy of the International College of Music Hamburg since 2008.
