George Speckert



George Speckert studied in the USA. He participated on master classes with Paul Roland (string pedagogy), Eduard Melkus (Baroque playing), Brian Blyh Daubney and John Corigilano (composition).


In 1976 George Speckert was appointed Head of the City Music School in Löhne, Westphalen, 1980 Head of the Music School Bad Salzuflen. In 1984 he joined the staff of the City Music School of Hannover and later became its director.


In 1995 he was awarded with the Hannover Prize and became the artistic director of the EXPO-Project KulturKaleidoskop – made in Hannover. Since 2002 he teaches film music at the University of Offenburg, since 2008 media workshops at the University of Bielefeld.


In 2011 he war received the 3rd European Award of Excellence “City for Children” for the project Medienbus.


Since 2013 George Speckert teaches at International College of Music, Hamburg.
