Christian Ganzhorn



Christian Ganzhorn was born in 1964 in Stuttgart and began learning the bassoon with Ralph Sabow from Süddeutschen Rundfunk Stuttgart.


Christian Ganzhorn studied with Prof. Klaus Thunemann at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. During his studies he was a member of the “European Community Youth Orchestra.” He had guest performances with Vladimir Ashkenazy at the Festival in Luzern and with Erich Leinsdorf in the USA. As a solo bassoonist at the Schleswig-Holstein-Musik-Festival he played under Leonard Bernstein during the concert trips through Western Europe and the Soviet Union.


In 1990 Christian Ganzhorn was appointed solo bassoonist to the Hamburger Symphoniker. In addition to his solo and orchestra activity he participated on projects run by the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt and was active with chamber music. Since 2012 he teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg and at the International College of Music Hamburg.
